The challenge of remodelling in schools

Schools are changing.  Through the extended schools agenda and the development of ‘children’s centres’ they are becoming centres for the community.  Working closely with all stakeholders (the workforce, parents, the wider community) around the Every Child Matters initiative, schools are increasingly being asked to provide for the social, physical and educational needs of each child.

The idea of a ‘wider workforce’ in schools, incorporating professionals and support staff from a range of disciplines to provide services for children and young people, brings new challenges for everyone involved in the school’s operations — the management team, teachers and support staff.
