Understanding how technology and learning interact has been a subject of long standing. Skills that both learner and educator need, to harness the potential of new technologies, are evolving, and with the emergence of information and communication technologies in society, this is now a very hot topic.
What is e-learning?
It is about the opportunity to offer learning in a new environment and to use this environment to improve choice and the way we are able to learn. It is about understanding and embracing new technologies as tools for educating. Of course it is not about a new form of learning – or necessarily becoming a new kind of teacher or facilitator. It is about however, designing appropriate e-learning interventions, in some cases innovative and creative solutions, and with that adjusting our practice.
The world wide web presents information as a network of links, it is not linear like the pages of a book. ‘Hyperlinked’ text allows us to delve into a world of information and knowledge – good, and sometimes bad, and that is awesome in its scope. Today’s learners cannot avoid using the internet as a resource, and at CCDU we aim to make this a safe and positive experience. Through our Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) we offer to our customers collaborative learning experiences, where construction of knowledge through active learning is a collective, social experience and can be accessed anywhere and any time.
If your organisation wants to harness the opportunities offered by new technologies and e-learning practice then contact CCDU. We specialise in developing online facilitators, implementing Virtual Learning Environments, blended learning design and actively e-learning through collaboration.
